Newer home, double-pane windows, and the tollway's still loud? You don't need new windows to fix it — here's why.
Most Frisco homes are newer builds with double-pane windows already in them, and the Dallas North Tollway and the Sam Rayburn are still loud enough to hear from the couch. If your windows are only a few years old and the road noise still gets in, you're not imagining it — and you don't need new windows to fix it.
Your windows are
newer. That's the problem.
This trips people up, so it's worth saying straight. Double-pane windows were built to hold temperature, not to block sound. They're two fairly thin panes with a narrow sealed gap between them, and that setup does very little for noise: the gap is too small, and both panes are the same material, so sound passes through both at nearly the same pitch. A window can post great energy numbers and still do almost nothing against tire roar off the tollway. That surprise is the reason most people in Frisco end up calling us. What an insert
changes.
An Insulatx panel adds another layer, and more importantly it adds a much wider air gap than the one sealed inside your window — plus it's acrylic, a different material than glass. Two different materials with a real pocket of air between them is what actually interrupts sound. That's the piece your double-pane window doesn't have (the full how-it-works is here).
The honest limit is the same here as anywhere: high-frequency noise drops the most — tollway whine, engine and tire noise, AC units, dogs, crowd noise — up to about 70% of what comes through the glass. Deep low rumble is reduced, not eliminated. We'll tell you which of your noise sources we can really knock down and which we can only soften.

Two tollways do most of it. The Dallas North Tollway and SH-121, the Sam Rayburn, are both high-speed and high-volume, and Preston Road carries its own steady load on top. That's constant, all-day noise. Then there's the event schedule — The Star, Toyota Stadium, and PGA Frisco pull crowds and traffic on game and event days, noise that spikes on a calendar rather than running all the time. And because Frisco is still going up everywhere, there's a decent chance you've got active construction within earshot right now. I already have double-pane windows. Why isn't that enough?
Because double-pane is built for temperature, not sound — narrow gap, two matching panes. An insert adds a wide air gap and a different material, which is what actually blocks noise.
Do I have to replace my windows?
No, and you shouldn't need to. Your windows are newer and fine. The panel goes over them and does the acoustic work they were never designed to do.
Will it help with event noise from The Star or Toyota Stadium?
It helps with the high-frequency part — crowds, traffic, PA — on top of the everyday tollway noise. The deep bass from a big event is softened, not silenced.
There's construction near my house. Is it worth doing anything about now?
If it's going to run for months, yes — and the panels stay working on the tollway and event noise long after the construction next door is finished.
Will an insert look out of place on a newer home?
No. The acrylic is optically clear and the frame is discreet, and the whole thing is removable, so it doesn't change how your windows look.
